Gary E. Loekhart
Gary E Lockhart, 55 of Liberty, WV,
passed away July 2, 201 I.
He was born in Montgomery OH,
the son of Delbert and Betty
Snodgraft Lockhart. He was a 1973
graduate of Georg€ Washington High
School. H€ served six years in the U.
S. Marines and was a member of Union
Local 128 of South Charleston, WV,
and Apache Motorcycle Club of
Lincoln WV, where he served as vice
president. He loved his Apache
brothers, and enjoyed riding with his
best friend, his "Dad."
He is survived by both his parents;
three sons, Nicholas E. Lockhart of
Liberty, John Eagle of St AIbans, WV,
and Michael of Jackson County; one
brother, Danny Lockhart of Creston;
and two sisters, Vonda Spencer and
her husband Charles of South
Charleston and Teresa Selby and her
husband Allen of Belle. WV
He was preceded in death by his
daughter, Amilla Lockhart
Services will be Wednesday at
Matheny Whited Funeral Home in
Elizabeth. Visitation will be from I I a.m.
until the time of the service. Military

David Ray Starcher
David Ray Starcher, 49, of Creston,
W.Va., went home to b€ with the Lord
on July I, 201 I, at Roane General
Hospital in Spencer, W.Va., after a
brief illness.
Services will b€ held at l l a.m.
Monday at Taylor-Vandal€ Funeral
Home in Spencer. Visiting hours are
6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Charles Thomas
Bumgarner
Charles Thomas "Tom" Bumgarner,
65, of Billings, WV, passed away June
27, 2011, at the Roane General
Hospital, Spencer, after a sudden
illness.
He was born May 24, 1946 in
Parkersburg, a son of the late Charles
Hamilton "Bummy" and Mary
Amanda Cline Bumgarner. He was
retired from Verizon, which was
formerly C&P and Bell Atlantic
Telephone. He enjoyed his
grandchildren, fishing, rabbit hunting
and running his dogs, He also
enjoyed gardening and loved farming
on his childhood family farm in Wirt
County. He'was a member of Gilboa
Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army
veteran of the Vietnam War where he
received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 42
years, Pat Lamb Bumgarner; daughter
and son-in-law, Amanda "Mandy"
and Jeff Thompson of Reedy; a son
and daughter-in-law, Matt and
Elizabeth "Liz" Bumgarner of
Parkersburg; three sisters, Mary
Frances Park of Belmont and Sharon
Gainer and Annette Strimer, both of
St. Marys; two brothers, Mike and Phil
Bumgarner, both of Elizabeth; and
three grandchildren, Hannah and
Hunter Thompson and Andrea
Cheuvront.
In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by a brother, Fred
Bumgarner.
Services were Thursday at Taylor-
Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with
the Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating.
Burial was in th€ K of P Cemetery in
Elizab€th. Donations may be made'to

More than 100 youth from across
West Virginia participated in a
unique camping experience. The
camp celebrated its 70 ' anniversary
this year.
Campers participated in classes
and outdoor recreation activities lead
by leaders from the natural resource
agencies which include: West
Virginia Division of Forestry, USDA-
Natural Resources Conservation
Service, West Virginia University
Extension Service, Conservation
Districts, Department of
Environmental Protection, U. S.
Parks Service, West Virginia
Division of Natural Resources State
Park, Law Enforcement and
Wildlife and Fishery sections.
The camping experience allows
youth to interact with professionals
(naturalists, foresters, educators,
wildlife and fisheries biologists,
natural resources police officers,
water quality specialists, and soil
scientists) who work to protect the
natural resources of Wcst Virginia.
